About the RCYC

Participation is open to anyone and everyone who is interested in learning more about the Portland-area fiber arts community and local yarn shops. To join in the discussion with other crawlers online, take a peek at our social media platforms.

Local brick and mortar yarn shops in the Portland area who meet a few basic criteria can choose to apply to and collaborate in planning and running the Crawl each year.

Participating in the Rose City Yarn Crawl is easy:

  1. Follow us on social media to stay up-to-date on pre-Crawl mystery-alongs, swag sales, and other special offers.
  2. View participating shops, browse the events calendar, and explore our map to create your own set of custom driving directions.
  3. Fill out and print a passport and read about entering to win one of our many prizes.
  4. Visit shops during the Crawl! Sign in and have your passport stamped at each shop for a chance to win prizes. Collect each shop’s special featured pattern(s) free with purchase at that shop.
  5. Have fun!

Before the Crawl

Before the Crawl, fill out and print your 2019 Passport. New this year, the passport is a fillable pdf! This should help us tackle an ongoing problem of not being able to read the contact info on submitted passports – and thus having difficulty contacting prize winners. To fill out your passport, just click on the highlighted lines to enter in your information, then print out the completed form. On Macs, PDFs should open right up in the built-in Preview program. On PCs, if you haven’t opened a PDF file before you may need to download the free Adobe Acrobat Reader. You can still print out a blank form and handwrite in your info – just be sure to do it very neatly so all words and numbers are distinct and legible. Whether your text is typed or handwritten, feel free to add any helpful explanatory notes regarding email addresses containing letters/numbers that look similar, like 0 (number zero) vs O (capital letter o) or l (lower case letter l) vs I (capital letter i) vs 1 (number one). Thanks for your help!

During the Crawl

Get your Rose City Yarn Crawl Passport stamped at each of the participating shops, then submit your completed passport at the last shop you visit before the close of business on Sunday. That enters you to win one of our amazing  Grand Prize Baskets filled with gifts from sponsors and  participating shops!

Not able to visit every shop and complete a passport? Not to worry. Sign in at each shop you visit to be entered to win one of the SIX prizes offered at each shop. No purchase necessary! See more details on the prizes page.

After the Crawl

Prize winners will be notified and posted online the Tuesday after the Crawl.
